Udupi, Mar 20: The officials of Excise department raided Malpe fishing port and confiscated 700 gm ganja.
The truck driver, who was trying to sell the ganja fled the spot during the operation. Police confiscated the vehicle and a plastic bag containing 700 grams of ganja. Excise officials confirmed that a case will be registered against the driver and owner of the vehicle in this connection.
The operation was carried out under the direction of joint excise commissioner of Mangaluru division Shailaja Kote and deputy excise commissioner of Udupi Roopa M. The operation was led by superintendent Gurumurthy D Palekar. Excise inspector Jyoti, assistant inspectors Rubiya Nadaf, Divakar, constable Krishna Acharya and Nanjundaswamy were in the team.
