Udupi, Jan 21: Swami Vishwapriyateerta of Adamar Mutt inaugurated the renovation of Durgadevi Temple at Kunjarugiri, near here, on Wednesday January 19. The temple will be renovated at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
Swami Vishwapriyateerta, in his message to the devotees, said that the opportune time has come as per the will of God to accomplish the renovation of Kunjarugiri Temple that was believed to be erected by sage Parashuram. “Divine Grace and generous contributions of devotees will go a long way in completing the work,” said Swami Vishwapriyateerta.
As part of the first stage of work, various infrastructural facilities were developed including a modern kitchen and a dining hall at a cost of Rs 1 crore. Meanwhile, in the second stage, the sanctuary of Goddess Durgadevi will be developed.
Vedamurti Padigaru Srinivas Tantri led the Vedic rites performed by Gopalkrishna Bhat and Raghavendra Bhat at the temple here. An offering of gold was made to the temple deity Durgadevi ahead of the rituals.
The temple renovation committee office-bearers Kurkalumane Krishna Shetty, Shivaram Shetty Kuledu, Devdas Hebbar, Dr Ravindranath Shetty, Srikar Suvarna Katpady, Kurkalubeedu Krishna Shetty, Madhav Upadhyaya, Kurkalu gram panchayat former president Mahesh Shetty, Hayavadana Acharya Mysore, Govind Bhat, Mumbai committee chief Hiriyanna Shetty, and Chandrahas Shetty Innanje were present on the occasion.
Temple renovation committee president Venkataramana Mucchintaya welcomed the gathering. Temple manager Rajendra Rao proposed the vote of thanks.
