Puttur, Jan 21: Unidentified thieves entered a house belonging to Kundaje Zacharia in Ramakunja village near Kadaba in the taluk on Wednesday January 19 night, and took away Rs 7.90 lac in cash.
Zacharia, who is employed abroad, had come home some time back. He had finalised the sale of his house in Kundaje, and had kept the money he had received as advance payment, in a suitcase. The sale proceeds of a lorry owned by him, was also kept with this money. Totally, a sum of Rs 7.90 lac in cash was kept in the suitcase that was placed in the bedroom.
In a complaint filed with the policemen on Thursday January 20, Zacharia said the thieves had taken away cash and thrown the empty suitcase in the backyard of his house.
Puttur assistant superintendent of police, Amit Singh, and Puttur rural circle inspector, Manjaiah, visited the spot and took up investigation. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were rushed to the village. A case was registered in Kadaba police station.
It may be recalled that Zacharia’s wife had been murdered in the same house about six years back.
