Mangalore: Week-long ‘Kumbol Uroos’ to Begin from Jan 23

Mangalore, Jan 20: The Uroos ceremony of Kumbol Sayyid Fazal Pookoya Thangal will be held at Papamkoya Nagar, Kumbol, in Kasargod from Sunday January 23 to Sunday January 30.

The 78th annual 'Nerche' of Sayyid Muhammad Papamkoya Thangal will also be held on the occasion.

Addressing reporters here on Wednesday January 19, K S Sayyid Attakoya Thangal, chairman, Uroos committee, said that Sayyid Umar K S Kunhikoya Thangal will declare the event open with flag hoisting.

Sayyid Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal Panakkad will inaugurate the Uroos and T K M Bava Musliyar, Qazi of Kasargod, will preside.

On Thursday January 27, there will be 'Jalaliyya Ratheeb,’ led by Sayyid Muhammad K S Attakoya Thangal Kumbol.

The valedictory will be held on January 29 and will be inaugurated by M A Abdul Khadir Musliyar, general manager, Jamiya Sa’adiyya while Thajul Ulama Sayyid Abdurrahman Kunhikoya Thangal Al-Bukhari Ullala will preside.

A P Aboobaker Musliyar Kanthapuram will deliver the main sermon. Women are not allowed to enter for Ziyarath on Saturday January 29 and Sunday January 30.

K S Sayyid Kunhikoya Thangal, convener, Uroos committee, Dr K S Sirajuddin Thangal and others were present.
