Kundapur, Jan 20: The ‘Dharmapeetha (seat of righteousness)’ set up in Kollur at a cost of one crore rupees, was dedicated to the world on Wednesday January 19 by Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji of Sri Ramachandrapur Mutt, Hosanagar.
In his benedictory address, the Swamiji wished that ‘Dharmapeetha’ will emerge as a centre of meditation and spirituality. “There are hundreds of languages. However, a person who talks with his heart, is understood by everyone who listens to him,” he added.
The Swamiji noted that Kollur is a place Sri Shankaracharya had done penance. “This is the land where righteousness flourishes. This happens to be the land, which has shown that harmonious coexistence between different religions is possible. If the ‘Dharmapeetha’ flourishes, the society will have a better environment to live in,” he said, duly extending the wish that the Peetha, set up at the base of Goddess Mookambika, will emerge as a leading centre in the coming days.
Byndoor MLA, K Lakshminarayan, presided over the meeting. Head of the ‘Dharmapeetha’, Tathagatha Swamiji, said that the centre had been started with the blessings of Goddess Mookambika, and that it will be developed into a place where spiritual thinking will be coupled with the worshipping of the Lord.
Former union minister, O Rajgopal, former MP, Vinayakumar Sorake, Kollur temple priest, Dr K N Narasimha Adiga, zilla panchayat member, Supreeta D Shetty, Kollur temple executive officer, H M Kale , Kollur gram panchayat president, Uday Sherugar, and several others participated as chief guests.
Maitri Samakhayat delivered introductory address. Former MLA, Appanna Hegde, welcomed. Teacher, Dinakar Shetty presented the programme.
