Bangalore, Jan 20: The state Governor, H R Bhardwaj, who has decided to permit filing of cases against the Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, and home minister, R Ashok, has reportedly advised the government to search for an advocate, who is better than legal luminary, Ram Jethmalani.
“I know that the Chief Minister and you had met Ram Jethmalani in Delhi, to discuss the above issue. But I feel you will have to handle the legal battle in a better way. Therefore, I advise you to hire a lawyer who is better than Jethmalani,” the Governor is learnt to have told minister, Suresh Kumar, who had participated in a function organized at Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday January 19 morning.
The comment, which appears to be sarcastic, has come at a time when the confrontation between the Governor and the state government is heading to a point of no return.
A minister revealed that Sureh Kumar explained the above incident, at the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.
“I had told the Chief Minister, that if he dissolves the assembly and opts to face the election, he would be able to win 160 seats. In that case, I reminded him, that all these problems and complications will cease to exist. But he did not choose to heed to my advice. Now you have chosen the confrontational path. Therefore, hire a better lawyer,” the Govenor is said to have told Kumar.
It is also gathered that the Governor had told the Chief Minister, who had met him on Monday that he has decided to grant permission to sue him, relating to instances of nepotism and corruption.
