Mangaluru, Mar 3: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and city south MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, visited the homes of students from the district who are stuck in Ukraine, on Wednesday March 2.
They spoke to the members of these families and instilled in them a sense of reassurance. They even spoke to the students via video call and told them that all out efforts are being made to ensure their safe return to India.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Nalin said that there is information that 18 students of Dakshina Kannada are still in Ukraine. He said that four to five students have already reached the neighbouring countries and that they are being brought back. "I have been speaking to the parents of these students, and also in regular contact with the students. A separate war room has been created by the BJP for this purpose. MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, is in contact with the students and getting information. The leaders are also in constant contact with the ministry of external affairs and the goal of bringing back all the students safely will be achieved, he stated.
Nalin pointed out that the central government has deployed four central ministers for this job and these ministers have reached the neighbouring countries of Ukraine where they are coordinating the task of bringing the students back to India.
He said that the death of Naveen, a student of Haveri district in Ukraine is a regrettable development. "We have spoken to the bereaved parents and consoled them. The government is extending all kinds of help," he assured.
