Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 18: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, February 18, reported 37 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 34 cases.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,35,239 out of which 417 are currently active.
As many as 89 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,836.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,45,580 as fine in 95,609 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
A total of 34 new cases were reported on Friday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 279. A total of 83 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Udupi taluk reported 24 cases, Kundapura 3 and 4 cases in Karkala.
A total of 10,48,314 people have received first dose of vaccination and 9,22,589 have received both doses and 42,646 people have received booster dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
