Kadaba, Jan 27: A wild elephant attacked a person at Balakka in Noojibalthila village in Kadaba taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, on Wednesday January 26.
The person who came under this attack was Revappa from Hangal taluk, Haveri district. He was working inside a plantation located in the forest area when a rogue elephant attacked him all of a sudden. Revanna was injured in his head and waist.
Revanna used to work in forest department plantations where he planted saplings.
Forest department officials and gram panchayat members visited the spot. The injured man was admitted into Kadaba community health centre with the help of an ambulance. For advanced treatment, he was later referred to Puttur hospital.
The locals said they are always apprehensive of the attack by wild elephants as these animals have often attacked agricultural areas unexpectedly. The forest department was approached with complaints in this regard in the past, but the wild elephants continue to harass the people who are now scared. The locals want the forest officials to do something to address this problem.
