Kundapur, Jan 26:"Our constitution is unique in the sense that it is the lengthiest written constitution in the world. We have to keep thinking of implementation of our constitutional aspirations along with remembering our past," said Kundapur assistant commissioner Raju K.
He was delivering a message after hoisting the flag on the occasion of Republic Day at the programme organized on Wednesday January 26 at Gandhi Maidan here by the taluk administration.
He recollected immense contributions and sacrifices made by Dr B R Ambedkar and other eminent personalities. He pointed out that the constitution gives equal opportunity to everyone and believes that a strong nation can be built if there is equality in social and economic spheres. He exhorted people to make efforts to lead the coastal region towards further financial progress by introducing geographical and cultural uniqueness of the region to others.
Kundapur municipal president Veena Bhaskar Mendon, who presided, addressed the gathering. Vice president Sandeep Kharvi, urban development authority chairman Vijay S Poojary, deputy superintendent of police, Srikanth, municipal councillors Devaki Sannaiah, Prabhakar V, Gireesh G K, Chandrashekhar Kharvi, Pushpa Shet, Ratnakar, chief officer Gopalakrishna Shetty, Kusummakar Shetty of youth services and sports department and several others were present.
Dignitaries paid floral tributes to the portraits of Gandhiji and Ambedkar. Town police station house officer Sadashiv Gavaroji, led the guard of honour. Police and home guards volunteers participated in the march past. St Joseph school students added to the grandeur of the march past with their band.
Tahsildar Kiran and Gauraiah, welcomed. Block education officer Arun Kumar Shetty, proposed the vote of thanks. People who excelled in different fields were felicitated on the occasion.
