Mangaluru, Jan 26: Republic day is celebrated every year on January 26 to commemorate the date and moment when the constitution of India came into effect. With the same cause it is celebrated as the national festival in Lourdes Central School.
The 73rd Republic day commenced by a universal prayer followed by a prayer song which was sung melodiously by the school choir led by the music teachers Ivan Mascarenhas and Roshan Corderio. This indeed created divine ambience.
It is said, if we ask, we will receive and if we knock, it will be open to us. With this belief Diya Rodrigues and Naman Acharya of class VII put forward their intentions before God seeking his blessings and healing power on humanity during this pandemic. Nived of Class VI welcomed the guest on the dias and also the audience present.
On this remarkable day when the National flag was hoisted by Dr John Baptist Saldanha, the manager LCS and also the national anthem was sung, which refreshed the feelings of patriotism and unity in diversity. Akshith Ullal and Vaishnavi K students of class X threw light on the significance of this great day in English and Hindi languages respectively. The patriotic songs sung by the school choir group arose the spirit of patriotism in all of us.
The floral tribute was paid to Dr B R Ambedkar, the Father of the Constitution by the dignitaries and the head boy of the school Srijith S Hegde led the pledge which was taken by all the audience present. Manager Dr John Baptist Saldanha, in his address expressed the importance of change in the education system of India due to which unemployment and poverty still exist. He said that the constitution is a sacred book of Indians in which fundamental rights and the duties of all citizens are well written. He emphasized to read the constitution and know our right and duties.
Gratitude is the matter of heart, so Rachel Lobo of class VIII proposed the vote of thanks for making this program a memorable one. Principal Fr Robert D Souza, vice principal Belita Mascarenhas, Dr Vincent Sequiera, Fr Anush D Cunha, Fr Suraj Lobo were present for the function.
