Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)
Mangalore, Dec 17: ESPN Software India has said in a release, that the local cable operator has violated the provisions of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India rules. It has warned that as a result, sports lovers of the city are likely to be deprived of the live telecast of ICC world cup matches proposed to be held in February and March next year.
“Without giving any advance intimation to the television viewers, local cable operator, V4Media, unilaterally stopped beaming the signals of ESPN, Star Sports and Star Cricket channels. This is a clear violation of condition 4.3 of the TRAI rules. As per the conditions, before stopping the telecast of a television channel, advance intimation of 21 days is a must,” said ESPN Software India’s affiliates sales director, Manish Jaitley, in the said release.
He also said that the operator has huge outstanding dues to the said channels. While expressing the opinion that the city television viewers might miss out on the ongoing Ashes series, Forumula-1 championship and other sports competitions, he clarified that those viewing these channels through DTH facility will not have any problem.
