Mangalore: Deraje Award Conferred on Litterateur Amruth Someshwar

Mangalore, Dec 16: Litterateur Amruta Someshwar was conferred Deraje Seetharamayya Award here at the Town Hall for his contribution towards the field of yakshagana and literature.

The award comprising citation and shawl was given away by Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple chief priest Laxminarayana Asranna at the programme organized by the Kalkura Pratishthana in association with Deraje Seetharamayya Cultural Foundation on Thursday December 15. The award will also be conferred on Varanasi Subraya Bhat for his contribution towards co-operative field.     

Speaking on the occasion, Asranna said that Deraje is still remembered by fans and yakshagana enthusiasts for his contribution towards the field.

Balipa Narayana Bhagavat was also felicitated on the occasion. Kannada Sahitya parishad former president Hariskrishna Punaroor and Kalkura Pratishthana president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura among others were present.
