Mangalore, Dec 15: The Karnataka State BSNL Non-Permanent Workers' Union affiliated to the Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) protested against the “illegal refusal of work” for members of the union here on Tuesday December 14.

In a memorandum submitted to the assistant labour commissioner, the union stated that the management of the telecom districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikmaglur districts did not allow 49 workers from Dakshina Kannada, 45 from Udupi to work from December 1 and as many as 180 workers from Chikmaglur to work from December 1 and October 1 (chikmagalur).

Further, the memorandum stated that the demand of the union to implement the Minimum Wages Act too has fallen to the deaf ears.
