Bantwal, Jan 18: The personnel of the rural police station here arrested a person and confiscated 30 kg beef and the auto rickshaw in which it was being transported from Navoor Beedi.
The arrested accused happens to be Abdul Khader (30), an auto rickshaw driver by profession and a resident of Navoor Patla. It is said that he had illegally slaughtered a cow and prepared beef out of it. He was taking the beef for selling the same to others, as per information.
When Bantwal rural police sub-inspector Harish, was in the weekend curfew rounds he noticed an auto rickshaw which came from the direction of Sarapady that was hurrying past. When the police stopped the three-wheeler and made discreet enquiries, they realized what was going on. Thirty kg of beef packed in 15 parcels worth Rs 2,500 and the auto rickshaw were confiscated and a case was registered in the rural police station here.
