Beltangady, Jan 18: It has been decided to take a final decision on the proposal to close down movement of vehicles on Shiradi Ghat stretch of national highway 75 to facilitate concreting of ten km of the road between Sakleshpur and Marnahalli on January 20. On that day, people's representatives, deputy commissioners of Hassan and Dakshina Kannada district and officials of the National Highways Authority of India will conduct joint spot inspection and take a decision thereafter.
This decision was taken after a meeting was held at the office of the deputy commissioner and video conversation on Monday January 17. The meeting was organized to consider the proposal mooted by the National Highways Authority of India to close down the road to facilitate the said work. .
Speaking at Dharmasthala on the issue, PWD minister C C Patil, told the media that tender process has been completed on the work and efforts will be made to finish the work as early as possible so that the people do not face problems for long. He said that work on this Rs 32 crore project will begin soon. The minister stated that under the ambitious initiatives undertaken by union minister Nitin Gadkari, several roads in the state will be developed and a sum of Rs 18 crore has been released to undertake repair works at about nine spots on Charmadi Ghat area where landslides were experienced.
