Mangalore, Dec 13: A youth died at Ullal Someshwar beach on Sunday December 12, after getting caught in a strong wave. The two survivors are being treated in a hospital in the city.

Khaleel (20) from Ullal Akkarekare, who was working as a supervisor in a timber company, lost his life in the incident. Nizar and Akram from Melangady, who survived the ordeal, are recovering.

The three were part of a six-member team that had reached Someshwar beach near Rudrapade. When three of them sat on a rock and watched, the other three were playing in water. Khaleel, who was sitting on the rock, was drawn into the sea by a huge wave, which caught him unawares. Nizar and Akram jumped into the sea to save Khaleel. Reportedly, hearing the cries for help, a fisherman rushed to the spot and rescued two persons by using tube and life jacket.

An intensive search for the body of Khaleel has been undertaken. MLA, U T Khader, visited the spot. A case was registered in Ullal police station regarding this incident.
