Mangalore, Dec 9: Although district superintendent of police, A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, who is in New Delhi, refuses to reveal the purpose of his travel to the national capital, rumours are thick that he is there to take into custody Madoor Isubu. It is also gathered that Isubu had volunteered to surrender, tired of his life as an underworld kingpin, and of being hounded by the Interpol and other agencies.
Madoor Isubu, who was arrested in Riyadh on the basis of a red corner notice issued by the Interpol, is apprently fed up with underground elements. He had volunteered to surrender in India. As there were no cases pending against him in Saudi Arabia, it is learnt, that the government there was compelled to release him after retaining in jail for four months. The underworld fugitive is learnt to have contacted a lawyer in the city about his proposal to surrender, and the advocate in turn, had contacted a high level police officer and discussed terms of Isubu’s surrender.
His family sources say that as per their information, Isubu was brought to the country three days ago. But the fact that none of the police officers are confirming his arrest, has made them apprehensive.
Isubu faces over 18 cases in Dakshina Kannada district relating to collecting protection money, posing death threat etc., and red corner notice had been served for his arrest in 2009. After Isubu was arrested at Riyadh airport while he was travelling to Dubai from Saudi Arabia on August 1 this year, the policemen here had placed a request to hand him over to them, and followed it up with more efforts.
Some sources say that Isubu will be produced in a court within the next two to three days.
