Mangalore: Founders Day - Canara Institutions Pay Tribute to Founder

Mangalore, Nov 19: The Founders Day celebrations of the prestigious Canara Group of Educational Institutions in the city, were held at the Canara High School ground here on Friday November 19. November 19 happens to be the day on which Ammambal Subba Rao Pai, who founded Canara group of institutions including Canara Bank, was born.

On behalf of the managing committee of Canara High School Association, Annappa Pai garlanded the bust of the founder. Canara Bank Mangalore circle deputy general manager, K Balachandra Rao, participated as chief guest. Students of Canara High School, Canara Girls High School, Canara English and Kannada primary schools, Canara Nursery, CBSE and Montessori schools, took part in the function.

Vidya Shetty presented the programme. On this occasion, students of these schools, who had scored high marks in the previous SSLC examination, were honoured by handing over gold medals to them.

Canara High School headmaster, S Umesh Mallya, was present. Montessori school headmistress, Shobha Kamath, explained about the life and ideals of the schools founder to the students.
