Karkala, Nov 17: Pravin (17), son of Ravi Naik, resident of Mangalanagar in Marne village within the jurisdiction of Ajekar gram panchayat in the taluk, committed suicide by hanging himself from the beams of the roof of his house on Tuesday November 16. Reportedly, the student was depressed at his inability to concentrate and do well in studies.
Out of the three children of Ravi Naik, younger son, Prashant, had died of blood cancer five years ago, when he was nine. The second death has come as a rude shock for the family.
Pravin was a first year diploma student in Karnataka Polytechnic Mangalore. On Tuesday, he remained at home in the guise of studying for the forthcoming examination. Reportedly, he chose the time his mother had gone out of the home to deliver bidis rolled by her, to end his life. In a death note left behind, he explained that he was treading in a wrong direction, he had tried to commit suicide twice before, and that he was solely responsible for this act.
It is said that he was denied hall ticket for the examination because of shortage of attendance.
