Udupi, Nov 15: State higher education minister, Dr V S Acharya, praised the initiatives undertaken by Srikrishna Mutt in protecting the health of the people, stating that these programmes are worth emulating. He was speaking after inaugurating a health check up camp comprising of free bone mineral density, blood pressure, diabetes and ECG tests, organized here on Sunday November 14.
The venue of the camp, held under the aegis of Paryaya Shirur Mutt, was Rajangan of Srikrishna Mutt, and a number of well-known doctors participated.
In his benedictory address, Sri Lakshivarateertha Swamiji of Paryaya Shirur Mutt, said that the recent decisions taken by the state government for the overall improvement of the Mutts and temples across the state have come as welcome change. He handed over a memento to Dr Acharya, besides felicitating the minister by draping a shawl around him.
Dr Ashok Kumar Vokude, Dr Pradip Varneker and Dr Chennakeshava Rao, who were mainly behind this initiative, were present. Over 500 people availed of the services provided at the camp.
