Udupi, Nov 13: District deputy commissioner, P Hemalata, stated the venue for the programme of sari distribution and health check-up for beneficiaries under Bhagalaxmi scheme being organized under the aegis of the district administration, zilla panchayat, women and child department and the district health department on November 17, will be the district stadium in Ajjarkad here.
State Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, will inaugurate the programme at 3.00 pm on that day.
In all 180 KSRTC and private buses have been hired to enable the beneficiaries to participate in the programme. Earlier, the venue for the programme had been fixed as Rajangan of Srikrishna Mutt. It is learnt, the decision to move the programme to the stadium was taken, considering the space requirement for a programme of this magnitude.
DK District Level ‘Bhagyalaxmi’ Programme in Puttur
Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, told the officials that there is no scope for any confusion among them about the holding of Dakshina Kannada district level programme under the ‘Bhagyalaxmi’ scheme. He declared that as per the decisions taken by the people’s representatives, the district level programme will be held in Puttur, and that the Chief Minister will be taking part in it.
He was reviewing the preparations for the convention of Bhagyalaxmi beneficiaries, proposed to be organized in Puttur on November 17, at a meeting held at the taluk panchayat auditorium here on Friday November 12. He said that the CM had paid heed to the requests made by him and the local MLA, Mallika Prasad, to hold the programme in this town. “I have heard the opinions of some officials that the programme could have been held in Mangalore. The officials have to just confine themselves to discharging of duties entrusted to them,” he warned.
Mallika Prasad asked the officials to stick to the timings while attending such meetings. She said that those officials who cannot conform to timings need not attend the meeting. Assistant commissioner, Dr K Harish Kumar, tahsildar, Dr Dase Gowda, assistant superintendent of police, Amit Singh, and other officials, who participated in the meeting, provided details of preparations being made for the programme.
