Mangalore, Nov 11: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district forest mobile policemen arrested a person involved in contraband sale of a leopard pelt at Guddekeri of Agumbe in Teerthahalli, Shimoga district on Wednesday November 10.
The arrested has been identified as thirty-year-old Puttaswamy of Baggodige village. Puttaswamy was arrested at Guddekeri by sub-inspector Navinchandra Jogi and leopard pelt was recovered from his possession.
Puttaswamy has been handed over to the custody of Agumbe police since the key accused Nandish and Rajesh who had given the leopard pelt to Puttaswamy to find prospective customers are absconding.
The operation was carried out on the orders of Bangalore forest unit ADGP K S N Chikkeroor and directions of forest unit IGP Narayan Gowda and SP A R Anvekar by sub-inspector Navinchandra Jogi and police personnel head constable Sitaram, Umesh Hosolike, Paparam Shetty, Chandrashekar Brahmavar, Dayanand and jeep driver Harischandra Gowda.
