Udupi: Shantaram Shetty, Recipient of Rajyotsav Award for Kambala Felicitated

Udupi, Nov 10: The public felicitation of Karnataka Rajyotsav Award recipient for Kambala, Tulunadu heroic sports organizer B Shantaram Shetty couple was held here on Tuesday November 9.

Shantaram and Suchitra S Shetty couple was felicitated during the Tulunadu cultural programme held at Barkoor, near here.

Speaking on the occasion, K Gunapal Kadamba, retired professor and Rajyotsav Award recipient said that the Rajyotsav Award to Shantaram Shetty has indeed brought wide recognition to Yakshagana, folklore of coastal district.

Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty presided. MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, zilla panchayat former president B Bhujanga Shetty congratulated Shantaram Shetty couple for bagging Rajyotsav Award. Barkoor parish priest Fr Remigius Aranha also present on the occasion.

Shantaram Shetty couple was brought in a colourful procession accompanied by tableau depicting Tulunadu folklore ahead of the programme.

The felicitation committee president B Srinivas Shettigar welcomed the gathering.  K Satyanarayan Udupa read the felicitation message. The retired head master B Sudhakar Rao and Bennekudru Mogaveer Yuvaka Sangh president Satish Amin compered the programme.

Third Economic Commission chairman A G Kodgi, entrepreneur Anand C Kunder, Barkoor Jumma Masjid Moulavi H Abdul Hameed Musliar, zilla panchayat member B K Hegde, entrepreneur Sudhakar Shetty, Ravindranath G Hegde, Annapa Hegde, Barkoor gram panchayat president Vasanti and
Hanehalli gram panchayat president Ratnakar Shetty among others were present at the dais.
