Udupi, Nov 1: Samskrithi Habba 2021, a cultural fest center staging the art, literature and culture of Karnataka was organized at St Mary’s English Medium (CBSE) School, Kannarpady on Tuesday November 1 on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyothsava.
Aravind Bolar, the renowned film star and theatre artist was the chief guest of the programme. The chief guest and other dignitaries were traditionally welcomed to the program through a cultural procession. The stage programme commenced with a prayer by school choir followed by a welcome dance.
Principal Fr. Johnson Sequeira in his welcome address said that the main aim of this cultural fest is to create a sense of pride in the minds of the young learners towards the cultural values of our land. The program was uniquely inaugurated by unfurling the auspicious flower of areca palm. The winners of various literary and cultural competitions held during the observation of Kannada week were awarded with prizes.
Amratha Shetty, Jagadeesh Acharya, Nataraj Malpe and Surabhi were honored on this occasion for their valuable contribution to Kannada culture. Later, chief guest Aravind Bolar was grandly honoured with garland, shawl, citation and memento.
Aravind Bolar in his guest speech appealed to the students to inculcate the values of self-discipline, broadmindedness and self-help to uphold the Kannada culture. Correspondent Fr Charles Menezes in his presidential address stressed the need of respecting the traditional values of our land to preserve the cultural heritage of Karnataka.
As a part of the cultural activity, the upcoming singers and musicians of the school conducted a classical music concert. The tiger dance presented by students to the mesmerizing beats of school band was the special attraction of the fest. Fr Ashwin Aranha, the assistant parish priest; Benedicta Fernandes, Maxim D’Souza and Herman D’Souza, the honorable members of school management committee were present on the occasion. Rita Quadros, the vice principal coordinated the programme. Anish Kalmadi and Medhini anchored the programme. Varsha Kamath proposed the vote of thanks.
