Around 3000 protestors took to the streets in Panaji demanding immediate scrapping of the National Highway allignment which is all set to affect thousands of houses in the state.
The protest morcha started from the Azad Maidan in Panaji and marched towards the Secretariat in Porvorim but before they could reach there, Goa armed Police personnel were successful in stopping the massive protest march near the Old Mandovi bridge in Panaji.
There was a minor scuffle between the protestors and the Police personnel following the stopping of the morcha.
As a result of the morcha, the old Mandovi bridge was blocked which affected the general flow of the traffic resulting in a massive traffic jam in Panaji and Porvorim.
