Mangaluru, Oct 26: Laughter is the best therapy that heals people when they suffer from stress or tension. Laughing at least once every day loudly will make us a happier person and will also fill us with energy and excitement. Sometimes laughter is the only thing that we require for healing ourselves from the negativity around us.
To provide a platform for laughter, St Aloysius RangaAdhyayana Kendra, in association with UGC STRIDE Project, organised ‘NAGERANGA’ – a humour programme recently in the L F Rasquinha Hall of LCRI Block. The audience which was predominantly a mix of St Aloysius College management, staff, faculty and students experienced the two-hour-long extravaganza of humorous speech and comicskits, which transported them all into the world of laughter, filled with fun and frolic, added with a couple of soothing songs by PrathikshaBhat of NITK Surathkal, and Jeevan Siddi, a St Aloysius College student.
The programme began with the humour speech by Sandhya Shenoy from Udupi who is one and the only female professional humour entertainer of GSB Samaj whose main topic is humour and life values. So far she has given over 1200 programs in different places in India and abroad. She entertained the audience with her witty punchlines, which led to a roar of laughter in the auditorium.
Sandhya Shenoy’s shows have also been conducted at Akhila Bharatha Sahitya Sammelana Udupi; district Level Sahithya Sammelana; Taluk Level Sahithya Sammelana; State Level Konkani Sahitya Sammelana Kundapur; Gadinada Kannada Sahithya Sammelana-Kasaragod; Children Sahithya Sammelana, among others. Added to this, teacher and student group of various schools and colleges, institutions including Lion’s, Rotary, JayceeClubs have arranged programmes and has entertained them with her witty performances. She has 13 awards from various institutions/organizations to her credit.
After the Stand Up Comedy by Sandhya Shenoy, the troupe 'MaskiriKudla of Majabharatha and Bale Telipaale' fame, consisting of Deepak Rai Panaje, Prakash Tuminadu, JP Tuminadu and Rajesh Muguli gave hilarious performances, which made the audience roar with laughter.
St Aloysius College principal, Dr Praveen Martis SJ, congratulated the organisers and, the performers and said, “It is indeed a delightful sight to witness students attending the event and listening to their laughter. Humour speaker, Sandhya Shenoy has really enthralled all of us with her interesting anecdotes and humorous punches and MaskiriKudlaTeam has brought us out of the drudgery of the pandemic.”
Registrar, Dr Alwyn D’Sa said, “This has been a unique and special experience. The unconditional and open-minded response by all the audience, especially the students has made us extremely happy. I would like to thank all the organizers and artistes involved in making us forget everything and have fun”.
