Bengaluru, Oct 19: Fabindia, a well-known chain dealing in traditional clothes has withdrawn its controversial advertisement, 'Jashn-e-Riwaaz'.
Bengaluru (south) MP and BJP Yuva Morcha president, Tejasvi Surya, had taken Fabindia to task through a tweet, for referring to Diwali festival as 'Jashn-e-Riwaaz', thereby projecting it as if it is a part of non-Hindu culture. He had questioned Fabindia about the models not projecting Diwali celebrations in the 'Jashn-e-Riwaaz' advertisement. Fabindia had put up an ad as above to unveil the Diwali collection of clothes it had presented on October 9 in the name, 'Jashn-e-Riwaaz'.
Mohandas Pai of Manipal Global Education has supported Tejasvi on this issue. He said that the customers should condemn the behaviour of Fabindia. He felt that companies have to respect religious festivals and stop misusing festivals backed by religious sentiments for advancing the sale of their goods.
