Mangaluru, Oct 18: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC), Dr Rajendra K V, has directed that Eid Milad should be celebrated in a simple way, duly complying with the Covid rules in force in this district.
"Mass processions as part of Eid Milad celebrations have been banned. Any of the day discourses or night discourses organized in Mohallas as well as cultural programmes or meetings should not have more than a hundred people in attendance. In mosques and dargahs, safe distance, and Covid protocol should be followed and enough precautions should be taken to maintain social distance. Microphones, digital sound system etc should not be used in public places," the order said.

Mass prayers can be offered duly following Covid-related behaviour. If more people gather, mass prayers can be offered in two or more batches. In case of offering namaz in mosques, minimum of six feet distance should be maintained between one another. Shaking of hands and embracing are not permitted.
The DC also clarified that other than mosques, mass prayers cannot be organized in public places (auditoriums, community halls, Shadi Mahals, other open spaces).
