Sullia, Oct 12: The Asiya-Ibrahim Khaleel marriage controversy, which had kicked up immense interest last year after Asiya doggedly pursued the family of Khaleel, claiming that she had married Khaleel and that Khaleel had deserted her at the insistence of his father and brother, has surfaced again.

As she could not get a solution to the problem, Asiya, has resumed her protest demonstration in front of a shop in Gandhinagar here which is owned by the family of Khaleel.

Asiya, a native of Kerala, claims that her name as a Hindu was Shanti Joobi before she married Khaleel and converted into Islam. She says after marriage, she had stayed with Khaleel in Bengaluru but that he had deserted her later at the advice of his family. She had staged a protest here about a year back on this issue and even visited the family of Khaleel. Even though talks involving different organizations were held, no solution was forthcoming.
