Mangaluru, Oct 7: A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with fraud in online share trading at north police station here.
The arrested has been identified as Herman Joyson Lobo from Beltangady.
Herman was arrested by Delhi police at Delhi airport on October 3. Mangaluru police had earlier issued a lookout notice against Herman. Hence he was brought to Mangaluru.
Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, “Herman has allegedly cheated people of over Rs 50 lac through online share trading. It is learnt that he took Rs 50 lac from two people by asking them to invest. There is information that he has cheated 20 to 30 people.
“He used to cheat people by asking them to invest and also by claiming that the money invested will be doubled along with the payment of good interest. He also returned back money with interest to those invested less money to gain their confidence. Once they start investing higher amounts, Herman used to cheat them,” he said.
It is gathered that after Herman’s arrest, one person has come forward and filed complaint against him. The police commissioner has urged people cheated by Herman to come forward to file complaint.
