Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 2: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, October 2 reported 100 new coronavirus cases, while Udupi registered 23 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,83,125 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,68,637 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,488 out of which 920 are currently active.
As many as 109 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,662.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,86,670 as fine in 87,939 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,40,964 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 23 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 76,345 out of which 131 are currently active.
A total of 69 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 23 new patients, 17 are in home isolation while 6 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 23 cases, 14 cases are symptomatic and 9 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 18 new cases, Kundapur registered 2 and Karkala 3. Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,99,043 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,12,454 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
