Mangalore, Oct 21: “Winners do not do different things, they do things differently.” ‘Avalanche’ the storm of knowledge, daylong management programme held at the SDM College here recently was the first of its kind in the city. The programme was organized by SDM College of Business Management.

“Management is all about decision- making in an uncertain future. Knowledge is seldom complete in all decisions today. Course correction is imperative and that requires a systematic method of capturing and adoption of experiences and learning’s that is knowledge management to optimize effectiveness of decisions.” said Vijay Athreye, all India head, TATA AIG.

Insurance has lot of scope in the untapped rural market which sums up to 60% of the massive population of our country. Any individual having attributes such as passion, desire, determination etc has unlimited
opportunities, the sky is the limit. Risk should not be a hindrance to the aspiration of MBAs, he added.

Prashanth Sarpamale, all India head for KPO division HP said,“Applied knowledge is power”. KPO is all about the outsourcing of knowledge processes like knowledge based creation, research on specialized information, analysis of data to prepare and effective business plans. Learning something new every day is the law of today’s world. With growing technology data is increasing enormously and is produced in exabytes today, he observed.

MBAs are the right choice for KPO sector as they have technical skills, teamwork, effective communication and individual management skills. Better management of communication, proper study of the given case and teamwork leads to synchronized efforts towards the organizational goals. Being a customer centralized industry customer satisfaction is one of the most important factors, he added.


What is banking? In simple words catering to the financial needs of the society and the country is called banking. “India is a rich country but I ndians are poor due to lack of proper management. If you want to have something which you never had, you have to do something which you have never done. ”, said C K Gopal. One might come across various risks such as marketing risk, credit risk, operational risk etc to overcome this, today’s budding managers must possess commitment, analytical skills and it skills, he said.

MBAs have an edge over other post graduates as they have opportunities to be directly recruited by banks through campus selection. In all 5 lakh MBAs are produced every year. But are all of them
employable? It all depends on every individual. It is the result that matters and not the plethora of efforts.
As Swami Vivekananda said - “Stand up, be bold, be strong. Take the whole responsibility on your own shoulders and know that you are the creator of your own destiny," he said.

Dr Devaraj ,director of SDM College of Business Management presided. Prof Vijaykumar and Deepthi Shetty were the staff co-ordinators, Deepak Shet and Nisha U were the student co-ordinators.
