Mangalore, Oct 20: The district unit of the Congress staged a ‘rasta roko' here on Wednesday Oct 20 demanding that the B S Yeddyurappa government should be dissolved.
Members of the Congress blocked traffic at the Balmatta junction.
During the rasta roko, Congress leader Ivan D'Souza said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government and Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) have failed to maintain the qualities of roads in the city. In an incident where a person was injured in an accident due to bad road in the city, MCC did not put any effort in hospitalizing him, he lamented.
Being the national party Congress has been demanding various things for the benefit of the society, whereas BJP is not even listening to the woes of people, he added.
He also condemned the transfer order issued to deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj, and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the order.
Slogans against mayor Rajani Dugganna were also raised by the protestors.
