Bangalore, Oct 19: Unmindful of the political uncertainty over the majority of the BJP-led B S Yeddyurappa regime, Karnataka is going ahead with the 13th edition of its flagship event, Bangalore IT.biz, and succeeded in convincing Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to come and inaugurate it on October 28.
Mukherjee, who will be inaugurating the event, will be releasing three policies -- information communication technology, hardware and animation – to help the State retain its Number One position in the high-tech IT sector.
Bangalore IT.biz 2010 is being jointly organised by the Department of IT, BT and Science & Technology and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Bangalore, said Karnataka IT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, addressing a news conference on Tuesday.
For the second year, the government has decided to hold the event at The Hotel Lalit Ashok. Earlier, the event used to be held at the Palace Grounds in the past. Bangalore IT event is India’s most premier ICT event for the last 12 years.
Like last year, an exclusive B2B platform for promoting partnerships and forge alliances with leading players in domestic and international markets would be organised.
The three-day event envisages platform building and identifying emerging opportunities and would comprise of multi—track conferences, international exhibition, according to State Government’s IT, Science and Technology Department, Principal Secretary Ashok Kumar Manoli.
With 'Billion Strong- Empowered by ICT' as its theme, a highlight of the event is 'Vision 2020 LEADERSHIP SERIES' during which high profile speakers would be sharing visionary thoughts on technology as an enabler and present their perspectives on the existing scenario.
Some of the prominent speakers, who have been invited to address the event, are: Sam Pitroda, advisor to the Prime Minister on Public Information, Usha Thorat, Deputy Governor RBI, Aaron Mankovski, chairman of Israel's High Tech Industry Association (HTIA), Som Mittal, Nasscom president, Harsh Manglik, managing director of Accenture India, Usha Thorat, Reserve Bank Of India deputy governor, N Chandrasekaran, managing director, Tata Consultancy Services, G R Gopinath, no-frills aviation pioneer and chairman and managing director of Deccan Charters Ltd and Pramod Bhasin, President and CEO of Genpact.
This year's event will also feature, like last year, an exclusive B2B (business to business) platform to help forging partnerships and alliances among the players in the domestic and international markets.
