Karkala, Oct 18: A police team led by the local crime sub-inspector, Ravi B S, arrested four persons on Sunday October 17, after intercepting a car they were moving in, from near the bus stand here. Allegedly, they were involved with the sale of mobile sets and subscriber identity module (sim) cards without possessing any authorization to do so, on the basis of fake address proofs.
The arrested men have been identified as Bhanukesh Shetty (27), resident of Kedoor near Kota in Kundapur taluk, Shylesh (22), residing near Korangrapady Mahishamardini Temple in Bailoor, Udupi, Mithun (21) from Kaipunjal village in Uliyaragoly village, Udupi taluk, and Pandurang Karkera (42), from Kaup Padu village in Udupi taluk.
The policemen said that the four men used to market the mobile sets and sims to people without verification of proper records, and that they did not possess any records or licences authorizing them to conduct this trade. A case has been registered against the foursome in the town police station here.
