Mangalore: Bikes Collide – Rider Dies, Wife Injured

Mangalore, Oct 18: After two motor bikes collided with each other at Bejai in the city on Saturday October 16, the rider of one of the bikes died, while his wife survived with injuries.

Ganesh (30), a resident of Devinagar in Kunjatbail in the city, and employed at Madikeri, died in the accident. His wife, Renuka (28), escaped with injuries.

The couple was going to Goddess Bhagawati temple in Kodialbail in the city, when a person, who tried to overtake from the left, hit their motor bike. Ganesh, who fell to the ground, suffered severe head injuries. Renuka sustained injuries to her head and waist. Ganesh was taken to a hospital immediately, but breathed his last at the hospital late evening on Saturday.

The policemen said that Renuka is out of danger now. A case has been registered in traffic (east) police station here.

    What a sad story, and my sympathies and concern goes to the deceased Ganesh and his surviving family. How foolish that man who was trying to overtake from the wrong side and in the process, caused accident and a fatal death. His driving licence should be taken away and he should never be allowed to drive again. Ganesh was a good family man as he was going to visit the temple and I am sure his soul will find eternal salvation. A word of caution for the people on two wheelers, drive carefully and don`t speed, for you have a very little chance of survival should you skid and fall down, both due to your own fault as well as of others.
