Udupi, Sep 23: A man was taken for a ride by an online fraudster who asked the person to activate KYC on the link that is sent to the mobile of the victim.
As per the complaint filed by complainant Girish K C (36), resident of Kartik Residency, Kidiyoor in the taluk, he has an account with State Bank of India, Sagar branch. On September 22, he received a link on his mobile by some stranger. Later a person called him on the pretext of a bank officer and asked him to update his KYC using the link that was sent. The victim believed the caller and clicked the link. Immediately Rs 65,000 was withdrawn from the account of the complainant in three transactions of Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
A case in this regard is filed at the CEN crime police station of the city under 420 IPC.
