Kolar, Sep 22: Congress leaders from the district vehemently expressed their opposition to the proposed re-admission of Kolar MLA, K Srinivas Gowda, into the Congress party. They said that the Congress does not need leaders like Gowda and that he had inflicted enough damage to the party when he was with the Congress. They told him that he does not have the moral ground to join the Congress.
Speaking on the occasion, district Congress Kissan Khet president, Srinivas, questioned the relevance of those who were earlier expelled from the Congress, coming back. "In the previous Lok Sabha election, you had canvassed against Congress candidate, K H Muniyappa. You had gleefully participated in the victory procession of BJP candidate Muniswamy. How do you think you deserve admission into the Congress?" he wanted to know. He also blamed Gowda for terming MP Muniswamy, as more dangerous than K H Muniyappa, just because Srinivas Gowda could not get the support of BJP members during the APMC election. He also said that Srinivas Gowda had wedged a divide in the Dalit community for defeating K H Muniyappa.
