Mangaluru Sep 17: District Youth Congress observed ‘National Unemployment Day’ on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday by setting up ‘Modi tea stall’ and ‘Amit Shah pakoda stall’ near Clock Tower here on Friday September 17.
Former MLC Ivan D’Souza said, “Modi had promised 2 crore jobs for youth in 2013 but unemployment rate is now standing at 10.3%. Due to ineffective economic policy, job creation has slowed down. Modi’s birthday will be celebrated as ‘Unemployment Day’ nationwide. People have lost jobs due to lockdowns too.”
District Youth Congress president Luqman Bantwal said, “On Modi’s birthday, BJP is running a postcard campaign and organising vaccine melas. Modi should resign for making youths jobless.”
Former MLA Ramanath Rai, Congress leader Shashidhar Hegde and others were present.
