Bangalore, Oct 12 (PTI): The Karnataka High Court today granted bail to BJP corporator Katta Jagadish Naidu and stayed futher investigation by Lokayukta on charges of his bribing a witness in a land scam case.
Vacation judge Justice V Jagannathan gave the ruling when two petitions by Jagadish, son of Karnataka IT-BT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, came up for hearing today.
In the first petition, Jagadish had prayed for quashing of the FIR and proceedings of recording of the crime by Lokayukta police.
The Court stayed the investigation stating there was every force in the petitioner's contention that the allegation of the complainant did not constitute an offence. The Court granted bail on the second petition praying for the same, but imposed certain conditions, including filing surety of Rs one lakh, reporting to police once a week and for him not to leave the country.
