Kundapur, Sep 15: Akhila Bharatha Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held protests at Kundapur in the leadership of ABVP, Mangaluru condemning rapes of children till elderly women and urged for severe punishment to rapists.
ABVP Udupi district convener Ashish who addressed the protests said that women are given a worshipful position in our land which has patriotic women. “We have the tradition of giving female positions for our land, oceans and country. But the cases of rapes that are occurring in our country are beyond humanity. Those who are accused of rapes should be awarded severe punishment creating fear of law so that such incidents do not reoccur,” he said.
ABVP state co secretary Manikanta Kalasa, Nirakshata, Prasanna, taluk convener Prajwal, Ashish Bola, Vijesh, Yashaswini Beejadi, Deepak, Rashmita, Rahul, Rashmita, Hritik, Pallavi, Sanjay, Megha and others took part in the protests. Members of ABVP in five educational institutes in the taluk also took part. A memorandum of requests was submitted to the government later through the tahsildar.
