Mangaluru, Sep 8: Name of popular Sandalwood TV anchor and actress, Anushree, has been mentioned in the statement of an accused, in the charge sheet filed relating to the drugs case in the court.

Reports said that accused number 2, Kishor Shetty had mentioned Anushree's name in the statement.

Later, Kishore denied that he had mentioned Anushree's name.

Mangaluru city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar informed that before he came as commissioner of police to the city, the probe relating to the drug case was completed and a final report was submitted.

He said, “Today, I saw these reports in the media. I have gathered the status of this case. Charge sheet will be the final report of the case.

“As the charge sheet is filed before the court, the case is under trail. Hence, Anushree will not be called for further interrogation,” he said.

On Kishore Shetty denying that the statement in the charge sheet was not his, Shashi Kumar said, “The signature will be taken from the accused after reading the charge sheet before him. This is a common procedure in all cases.”

He also refused to react on the statements of Indrajith Lankesh.

“One need not suspect the probe of the police department. It is not correct to say that the inquiry has not been done properly,” he added.
