Mangalore, Oct 5: CREST (Creating Resource to Empower Society Today), the youth wing of Centre for Integrated Learning, will organize ‘Insignia 2010’, an inter-collegiate student leadership development programme, at SDM Law College auditorium in the city on Thursday October 7.
The district-level event is being held to develop leadership skills among students to groom them into better citizens.
The day-long deliberations will comprise intense sessions from clarifying the concept of leadership to qualities and assuming social leadership among the student community. Packed with an array of activities through participatory method, the students will be facilitated to internalize the various aspects of leadership by eminent resource persons specializing in human resource development.
A special motivational speech by Capt Gopinath, professor, Canara Pre-University College, who has been motivating students despite his serious physical ailment and Max Rasquinha, president, Lions Club of Houston (USA), and mentor of Toastmasters International clubs in the region, will add value to the programme.
The event will be inaugurated by Dr Vijaya Prakash, commissioner, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC).
The different sessions will include a keynote presentation on leadership concepts and youth leadership in modern connotation, self-evaluation, strengthening self-esteem, communication, and mind skill development and planning socially relevant projects.
As many as 120 degree students from different disciplines from over 25 institutions are expected to participate in Insignia 2010.
The event is the second social activity initiated by CREST since its inception in July 2010. ‘The Joy of Giving’ week initiated by the forum in association with the high school forum Students Action Movement (SAM), for the first time in Mangalore recently, was a resounding success.
Insignia 2010 is being organized as a prelude to ‘Nethruthva’, a mega inter-collegiate, inter-district leadership hunt, which will be held during the first three months of the next year.
