Kundapur: Pedestrian hit by car loses life

Kundapur, Aug 20: Mahabala Acharya (85) from Ulthoor near Thekkatte in the taluk was walking by the side of the road in front of Thekkatte Lord Mahalingeshwara temple on national highway 66 on Thursday August 19, when a car knocked him down. He lost his life in the accident.

A car moving towards Mangaluru from Bhatkal had hit Acharya. He suffered serious injuries to his head. He was immediately taken to a private hospital for treatment. However, he did not respond to efforts made to save his life and passed away.

Due to the impact of the accident, the hood of the car was damaged. Kota station house officer, Santosh B P visited the spot and registered a case.

Mahabala was popular because of his skilled carpentry work. He has left behind three sons and two daughters.
