Mangaluru: Apple showroom theft case - One arrested, mobile phones worth Rs 41 lac recovered

Mangaluru, Aug 14: One person was arrested in connection to the theft at Maple store at Balmatta.

The arrested accused hails from Maharashtra. He was nabbed in Mumbai by Mangaluru police. As many as 40 mobile phones worth Rs 41 lac were also seized from his possession.

It is gathered that two people were involved in the theft and one is yet to be caught.

The accused who is now in custody has over 9 cases registered against him in Mumbai.

Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar rewarded Rs 10,000 to the police team which cracked the case.

It may be recalled, thieves broke into MapleX, the exclusive showroom for Apple products and decamped 68 mobile phones worth over Rs 60 lac. The incident came to light on Monday July 5.

    Inequality in society is leadings to such audacious robberies , one would imagine such a high end shop would have some very tight security. Security guards were probably 'tight so the robber with no name managed to steal phones worth 60 lakh rupees before security guards could recover from hangover. One must investigate inside job as usually this kind of robberies have a collaborator who works within the establishment, if we match the name lists of employees with the names of the robbers we can solve this robbery without needing police. Given that the name of the accused hasn't been released I think everyone here knows .
