Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 13: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, Aug 13 reported 390 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi registered 115 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 13,79,277 samples have been tested so far, out of which 12,74,155 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,05,122 out of which 3,649 are currently active.
As many as 333 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,490.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,02,92,570 as fine in 84,553 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,42,560 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 115 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 71,472 out of which 1,274 are currently active.
A total of 99 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Out of 115 new patients, 103 are in home isolation while 12 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 115 cases, as many as 75 are symptomatic and 40 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 58 new cases, Kundapur registered 16 and Karkala 39 and two cases were from out of district.
Coronavirus has claimed 432 lives in the district so far, including one on Friday. The person who died on Friday was from Kundapura.
So far, 5,61,050 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,05,518 have received the second dose.
A total of 51 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 7 are currently active.
