Mangalore, Sep 22: At a time when every MLA of some significance is fuming at not getting a ministerial berth, and legislators of neighbouring districts like C T Ravi from Chikmagalur and Appachchu Ranjan from Kodagu are crying hoarse at not being made ministers, and even posing threats of resigning as legislators, senior most MLAs from Dakshina Kannada district are maintaining a low profile. They are not only tranquil, but also unperturbed by the beehive of activity going on in political circles at the state’s headquarters.
Four-time MLAs, Yogish Bhat from the city and Angara from Sullia, participated in meetings concerning the development of their respective constituencies on Tuesday September 21. Yogish Bhat was closeted with officials in prolonged discussions over the proposed corniche project and other development projects, while Angara kept himself busy by participating in health camp and other people-friendly programmes.
When contacted, Bhat opined that becoming a minister is not a prerequisite for striving for the development of one’s constituency. He said he will continue to serve the people and make efforts to speed up the development initiatives in the city, irrespective of his standing and position, in future.
