Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 7: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, Aug 7 reported 342 new coronavirus cases and four deaths, while Udupi registered 131 new cases and two deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 13,18,778 samples have been tested so far, out of which 12,16,032 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,02,746 out of which 3,294 are currently active.
As many as 286 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
The district recorded four deaths due to coronavirus on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,460.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,01,12,217 as fine in 83,295 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,10,525 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 131 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 70,735 out of which 1,371 are currently active.
A total of 158 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 131 new patients, 118 are in home isolation while 13 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 131 cases, as many as 89 are symptomatic and 42 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 71 new cases, Kundapur registered 17 and Karkala 42 also 1 person was out of the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 426 lives in the district so far, including two on Saturday. The persons who died on Saturday were from Karkala and Kundapura.
So far, 5,37,045 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,93,703 have received the second dose.
A total of 50 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 8 are currently active.
