Udupi, Aug 7: “I am always powerful. So I might have been vested the energy portfolio. All are important portfolios. I will efficiently manage the given responsibility. Not only B S Yediyurappa but D K Shivakumar as well as Shobha Karandlaje have also managed energy portfolio. It is a big task, but managing it is not difficult. I will take it as a challenge. After two years, I will show how I have shown my power,” said Sunil Kumar, minister for energy, Kannada and culture.
Speaking to the media Sunil further said, “I will manage any responsibility given by the chief minister (CM). I will work in a manner in which the party and government will be appreciated by the public. The senior leaders and CM have given me a huge responsibility beyond my expectations. I will take the suggestions and guidance of seniors and experts.
“Various ministers are given different portfolios with the intention of newness in the government. We will definitely do it in the remaining two-year term. The administration style of Modi should be seen in Karnataka also. This is my dream,” he said.
On the issue of adding Tulu language to the eighth schedule, Sunil said, “In the matter of language we have never made any compromise. Especially, when we come to coastal districts, we give more stress to the Tulu language. Culture and language should progress together. Language is hidden in culture. I will balance both.”
Responding to the query of giving state recognition for the Tulu language, Sunil said, “I have not taken the responsibility of that department. This is a long standing demand. There are many obstacles in it. We should pressurize for the same. I will try my best.”
